Toni Hanley

Although Toni has been involved with craft and stitch since childhood, it wasn’t until she did her City & Guilds in embroidery at Cardonald College that she found it taking over her life.

She loves machine embroidery but equally at home with hand stitching especially when it can be combined with machining. Toni has done a lot of research into Indian embroidery and has tried out many of the techniques. She has a growing collection of Indian textiles that she finds very inspiring.

In her classes her take on design is very ‘play school’ and she finds students are often surprised by what they can do. Toni tries to pass on her enthusiasm for embroidery and encourage students to ‘have a go’! Her love of textiles has brought her great enjoyment and many like minded friends.
