Heather King

Heather’s interest in sewing and knitting began at a very young age and developed into making her own wedding dress. However it was not until she lived in Canada for two years that her horizons expanded as she was introduced to many different crafts, embroidery techniques and quilting.  After studying City and Guilds in Creative Embroidery she exchanged teaching Biology in secondary schools to teaching embroidery and related crafts.

Heather takes inspiration from the natural world and features it in her work by using traditional techniques in new ways.  For example her interests in both traditional and contemporary smocking can combine in her projects.

Teaching both hand and machine embroidery is one of Heather’s strengths and loves as it allows her to encourage others to take up her favourite pastime.bluebell-wood
